Hydrastis canadensis. Native to eastern North America. Creamy flowers are followed by red berries. Wrinkled, maple-like leaves. Good in woodland gardens. Grows 8-12" tall and wide, spreads by rhizomes. Blooms in April. Dappled to full shade. Plant in rich, moist soil. Zones 3-8.
