Podophyllum peltatum. A shade loving, single stemmed, herbaceous perennial having terminal, large whorled foliage and showy flowers of white. Fruit is gold when ripe and used in jellies. Caution: roots and leaves are poisonous. Great in shady woodland gardens. Grows 12-18" tall by 12" wide. Blooms in mid spring. Filtered sun to full shade. Plant in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil. Zones 3-8.
